        Our Story

The story of Golden Poppies starts in 2020, at the height of the pandemic, our teenage daughter became sick and it was clear to us something needed to be done. She needed someone to always be there for her and help her with her disabilities. This is where our first Golden Retriever, Princess Buttercup, came into the picture. Buttercup gave our daughter a new purpose again, and a reason to smile. Butters went on to become our daughter's service dog when we noticed her gentle, kind, and empathtic behavior could expand beyond just the capabilites of your average pet.

We were blown away with her intellignce and instantly knew we had become a Golden Retriever Family. In 2022, we welcomed home our first future mother, Countess Mercedes. Golden Poppies strives to give others the joy and healing of a Golden Retriever, just like Butters and Cedes does for us.

"How Is This A Bad Plan?"

Mercedes is our Mama. A caring Mother and a sweet, gentle soul who just wants to chill on the couch and get cuddles from her humans.

"Nah, Imma Do My Own Thing."

Miles is the son of Mercedes and our daughter's current Service Dog. He's a giant goofball with an incredible on-and-off switch perfect for his job.

      • We strive to bring our clients a better Golden Retriever.

Our puppies are bred with service dog temperments in mind. From the day they are born, they are trained to become well-rounded canine companions, no matter what the future holds for them. A lot goes into training these future cuddle bugs and future service dogs. This includes scent imprinting from day one, sound desensitization when their ears open, and so much more.
